What are the different types of hair used in hair systems, hairpieces?

At Superhairpieces, there are three main types of human hair that are used with our hairpieces for men and women. These include Chinese hair, Indian hair and European hair. However, there are other types of hair that can go on a hair system as well such as Yaki hair and synthetic hair. In this blog, we will look at the different types of hair so you will not only know their pros and cons, but can select one based on your desired preferences.

Remy human hair explained

First, we should look into what Remy human hair is. This is hair where the cuticles remain intact and flow in the same direction. This is done by extracting the hair directly from the provider’s scalp. The end result is this type of hair has less shedding and does not mat or tangle as much as non-Remy hair.

In addition, Remy hair is smoother and shinier than non-Remy hair, which on the other hand, is collected from the ground or from leftover hair and usually undergoes a lot of chemical processing which makes it look and feel dry. Moreover, non-Remy hair is harder to maintain and brush while being more prone to tangling, unwanted friction and matting. What are the differences between Remy and non-Remy hair?

Chinese hair

Now that we know what Remy hair is, let’s look at the types of Remy hair starting with Chinese hair. Chinese hair is arguably the most popular type of hair. Regarded as the highest quality hair in the industry, Chinese hair has a soft texture which makes it extremely desirable. It is also extremely durable which allows it to withstand heat and chemical processing much better than other types of hair. The texture is also straight which makes it a very versatile option for a good portion of hairpiece wearers worldwide. This is especially the case given that Chinese hair is black and it is estimated that up to 85 percent of the world’s population usually has black or very dark brown hair.

While the Chinese hair we offer is soft, it can also be thick and coarse if that’s the preference of the customer. At Superhairpieces, we source our Chinese hair with a soft and fine texture from southeast China near Vietnam where conditions such as the moisture, humidity and soft water levels lend to hair donors having long, soft and healthy hair. For thick or coarse hair, we source this hair from northeast China which is more mountainous and dry. The end result is hair that is durable, strong and more dense. Chinese hair is also mainly used with our wigs for women, hair toppers and hair extensions. What are the different quality grades of hair extensions?

Pros:

• Comes in common black hair color
• High quality and regarded as premium hair
• Pretty durable and heat-resistant
• Soft texture

Cons:

• Can be slightly expensive compared to Indian hair
• Risky to purchase as many suppliers label non-genuine hair as Chinese hair
• Hair quality naturally suffers when processing from black to lighter colors like blonde

Indian hair

Indian hair is the most commonly used hair in Superhairpieces men’s hair pieces. It’s very similar to Chinese hair, but with a few notable differences. Like Chinese hair, it is also soft, naturally straight, easy to process and comes in a black hair color originally. The differences, however, are that Indian hair can also come in curly or wavy textures. Indian hair, however, is not as strong or durable as Chinese hair. It also has a less silky texture and is finer compared to Chinese hair.

With all that said, Indian hair still remains one of the most popular hair types in the world, especially given the number of hair providers and the hair industry in India as a whole. European hair

European hair is among the more premium types of hair available. This is because it is much rarer than Chinese or Indian hair when it comes to hairpieces. It is usually thin and delicate with a silky texture that many people prefer. Because it mostly comes in brown, blonde or red tones, it is a popular choice for Caucasian hair system wearers. This also means that while you would have to dye and heavily process black Chinese or Indian hair to get a blonde or red color which, in turn, affects the quality of the hair by making it dry and brittle, there is far less processing involved when it comes to European hair should there be any need for coloring. As a result, European hair is usually stronger, more natural looking and requires less maintenance.

With all that said, with rarity comes a price, and European hair or hair systems that use European hair such as the M121 injected poly skin hair system are usually much more expensive than ones that use Chinese or Indian hair. European hair also tends to be much shorter than other types of hair, so if you’re looking for a full cap wig with plenty of length, you will not be so lucky.

• Less processing required so usually stronger and more natural looking than other types of human hair
• Less maintenance required

Other types of hair

The above mentioned hair types are the three main types of hair used with our hairpieces for men and women. However, there are other kinds of hair that can be ordered at Superhairpieces.

Yaki hair (and yak hair): This is human hair texturized the same way as a yak’s hair. Yes, the long-hair domesticated cattle animal that is usually found in the Himalayas and other cold regions!

This hair usually has a long, bushy, thick and saggy texture. With the hair strands sometimes shaped like zigzags, it’s a great choice for those with Afro-American hair textures. At Superhairpieces, one can choose to have Yaki hair for their unit, but only with a custom made order. If you want Yaki hair for greys only, customers can get Yaki grey hair to go along with their hairpieces. However, the Yaki grey hair offered by us is actual yak hair, so you will be getting the real thing!

Synthetic hair: Synthetic hair is hair made from synthetic fibers designed to mimic human hair. While it looks more realistic today and is more durable than human hair, it lacks the natural look, feel and texture of the latter.

Additionally, they are not ideal for heat styling products nor can they be dyed or colored. At Superhairpieces, you can choose to get synthetic grey hair with your hairpiece that is made from Japanese Kanekalon synthetic fibers.

Jewish hair: Superhairpieces doesn’t offer many, but we do carry some Jewish wig options. Jewish wigs — which are also known as sheitel or kosher wigs — are mainly for Orthodox Jewish women who are required to wear them as per biblical law. In addition, Jewish wigs must not carry hair donated as part of a ritual such as some of the ones found in India. That is why Superhairpieces gets its Jewish hair from donors in Mongolia. This hair is regarded as one of rarest and strongest on the market.
